Digital Phrases

As a new way of materialising thought, I have been experimenting with Procreate digital drawing. The benefit of this method is that it is quicker, more accurate in colour because paint is not mixed, it's neater and easier to play around with. However, digital creation is less tactile, its more 2-dimensional and doesn't give me the satisfaction of the physical act of painting. For me, creating the continuous line swirls and painting the details letters of text is way to process the art i'm making, reflect on it and be involved in a 3-dimensional, tactile experience.

After these sketches I was pleased with vibrancy of colour, the sign-like appearance of the drawings, demanding attention, so I edited them to create a final works. I am still thinking over how I can transform these digital pieces into more immersive artwork, whether it's through painting, expanding and layering the digital drawings or combining elements together. For now, these are practice pieces for me to explorey in terms of colour, composition and language to develop my practice.
