Questions to consider
What are the different voices in my work? How do they communicate differently within text or pattern? What do different forms of language i.e capitals, italic, handwriting, digital or hand written, reflect? How does continuous line reflect conversation and thought process?
What happens when I separate drawing and writing? What happens when I bring them together?
Forms of work such as CAPS - Holzer, or neons - Emin. How do these give forms to the voices?
Advice
Step out of comfort zone, recognise flaws and contradictions
Consider how different element engage with each other, is there any recurring themes or thought pattern?
Refine the elements in order to arrange and consider composition
Use the different conversation, have more agency; act, operate, perform
What am i chasing? I’m using it as a carthartic process dealing and processing but then wanting to hide but also continuing to make it. Trying to communicate but disguise it with words of others. I like the tension between the two things. The portrait is look but don’t; the outpouring below is more safe.
Next step:
Create work about each voice and contribution to my environment then consider how they are made and how they communicate
Separate the everyday/other with the personal/self and then decide what is effective. Do i need to let go and leave the comfort zone?
